Don't buy real estate there. Don't attempt to do business there.

Never vote for anybody from Chicago.

Why not?

Because Chicago is corruption, and corruption is Chicago.

South Carolina Fights Back

State lawmakers vote to block health care mandates

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 1:28 p.m.
COLUMBIA (AP) -- South Carolina legislators have given initial approval to two measures aimed at derailing the massive health care overhaul signed by President Obama.

A Senate Judiciary subcommittee Wednesday approved a bill and proposed constitutional amendment that would require South Carolina's attorney general to sue the federal government over mandates that people buy health insurance.

The 4-1 votes come a day after Obama signed the nearly $1 trillion overhaul. Attorneys general from 13 states, including South Carolina, immediately sued.

State GOP Sen. Mike Rose of Summerville said his bill would boost South Carolina's challenge by putting the directive to sue in state law. Democratic Sen. Brad Hutto of Orangeburg called the legislation a waste of time.

Treason on the Energy Front

According to India Times, US says it is open to nuke deal with Pakistan.

Evidently, Obama thinks it's perfectly okay to promote nuclear reactors in Muslim countries, while putting up every roadblock imaginable against the 100 percent legitimate and desperately needed generation of nuclear power within the US.

It's nothing short of treasonable.

The American citizen and taxpayer is being raped. It's as simple as that. It's Chicago-style political thuggery writ large. Once this parasite takes hold of any part of the economy or the body politic, it uses every stratagem to bleed its host until nothing is left. Even if someone, somehow, manages to stop the "euthanasiator" from forcing through this particular round of national socialist "health care" legislation, it will keep coming back around again and again and again, because the system is broken.

What to do? The options are capitulation to tyranny (unacceptable to me), violence (counterproductive, in that it gives the tyrants more excuses for repressive measures), and departure from the totalitarian state.

Departure en masse means secession. True, it was thwarted - temporarily - in the US in the 1860s, but much more recently it succeeded, without bloodshed, with the "Velvet Divorce" in Czechoslovakia. If sufficiently many citizens of sufficiently many states want it, it'll happen.

Don't let the leftists fool you! The growing demand for secession in the US has nothing to do with bringing back slavery. Quite the contrary; secession has everything to do with protecting ourselves from being enslaved to a tyrannical federal government.

I have posted some tea party, state sovereignty, and Southern regional links in the 1389 Links blogroll in the sidebar of this log. The movement has been quite active in South Carolina and elsewhere. If you have any more links, by all means, post them here and let me know. There's still time to get involved.

Departure as an individual means expatriation. That's a drastic measure, but if you have some marketable skills and some ability to acquire another language, there are some options. If you think you might be interested, read the articles here and here.

We will be blogging more about secession at 1389 Blog.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) announced three airports in northern Michigan have received grants totaling $726,409 for airport maintenance and improvements. The funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration.

“This federal funding will help these airports better provide critical services to communities in northern Michigan,” Stupak said. “I am pleased the FAA has made this investment in our local airports and the individuals and businesses they serve.”

Alpena County Regional Airport received a grant of $85,500 to acquire friction measuring equipment, specifically a decelermeter and tow vehicle, to replace equipment that has worn out.

Delta County Airport in Escanaba received a grant of $179,209 to install a 10 foot perimeter fence to enhance security and prevent wildlife from entering the airport.

The Chippewa County International Airport near Sault Ste. Marie received a grant of $461,700 to install lighted signs on Runway 16/34 and make repairs to the pavement to meet marking requirements and maintain structural integrity.

This funding is provided to the FAA through the regular federal appropriations process and is awarded through competitive grants.
